Nature journals offer a mindful way to observe--both the outside world and our own inner lives. And that is true for learners of any age.
I believe that nature journals don't have to fit an existing model. Mine is often part diary and part sketchbook.
It's easy to see something beautiful and feel like we've "captured it" with an Insta-worthy snap. It's even easier to pass by something beautiful and never see it at all. A nature journal helps us stop and connect to what's happening around us and to spend some time--even if it's only a few minutes--experiencing it.
They are a wonderful starting point for lesson plans for young learners, and they can also supplement existing content.
